Thursday's Literacy Test Schedule

Thursday is the Grade 10 Literacy Test. There is an altered schedule that day with shortened periods that don’t start until 11:35. YOU HAVE PERMISSION FROM MR. GRANT TO ATTEND YOUR CO-OP PLACEMENT AT THE USUAL TIME. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COME TO HOLY TRINITY ON THURSDAY! You will miss your period 1 and 2 but do not have to bring a note in or have a parent call. The attendance office already knows you will not be in period 1 or 2! (As usual, if you don’t go to co-op you must bring a note in or have a parent call the attendance office).

Friday is an integration day. Room 315 at the start of period 4! Bring your blue book and any paperwork still owing. Remind your supervisors you will not be in on Friday!

Weekly Mark

Marks are being awarded as follows:

  • Space used (length of daily entries - two paragraphs, around 150 - 200 words. Try to write something different or new each day.)
  • Sentence & Paragraph form
  • Spelling & grammar (type in word and copy & paste if you are not a good speller!)
  • Length of Reflection (minimum twice as long as a daily entry)
  • Content of Reflection (remember: don't simply summarize your daily entries! Use the 'starters' from your blue booklet. I also post them here each week!)

Try to make your blog attractive by including

  • photos/clipart
  • links to documents you used at the placement
  • links to websites with relevant information about your career
  • link to your placement's website if they have one
  • videos showing someone in your profession in action (doesn't have to be from your placement)

Suggestions

  • Try to liven up your posts by including pictures or links related to your placement. For example, perhaps you could find a diagram of the parts of a braking system and post it along side your entry for the day. Perhaps you could post a picture of your supervisor or the people you work with but always ask for permission :)
  • Take a look at Christine's blogspot to see xrays of someones teeth!

  • Although it's sometimes hard, try not to say the same thing every day!

  • If you're not the greatest speller, type your entry in word, check the spelling and then copy it over to Blogger!

March Break

Please remind your supervisor that March Break begins on Friday and that Thursday will be your last day this week. Many placements will not know that Friday is part of March Break.

The deadline for Daily Entries and Weekly Journals is still Monday of next week - keep blogging!

Have a safe March Break!
